What is CMMI®?
CMMI® (Capability Maturity Model® Integration) is a process improvement maturity model for the development of products and services. The model
was developed by the
Software Engineering Institute and sponsored by the US Department of Defense. The model consists of best practices that
address development and maintenance activities covering the product lifecycle from conception through delivery and maintenance.

Since its inception, CMMI® acceptance has grown year-over-year especially for organizations contracting with the US government. Not only has
CMMI® almost become a prerequisite to submit proposals for development and maintenance contacts, but it's good for business as well.  Studies
have also shown that over time, organizations that implement CMMI® based process improvement programs can expect improvements of:

  • Productivity - 61%,
  • Schedule - 50%,
  • Quality- 48%,
  • Cost - 34%,
  • Customer Service - 14%, and
  • Return on Investment - 4:1.

Establishing a CMMI® capability can be a daunting proposition costing organizations hundreds of thousands of dollars and spanning multiple months.
To allow organizations to quickly establish this capability, Quick Start Methods has developed innovative and easy-to-use
templates that allow
organizations to reach their CMMI® process improvement goals with
significantly less time and money when compared to more traditional methods.

CMMI® for Development v1.2 is the latest version of the model. It contains best practices for project management, engineering, support, and process
management. These best practices are arranged by
22 process areas spanning 5 maturity levels as shown below.
